Thursday

I'm awake! I'm awake! I promise!
Is anyone else as tired as I am? Momma, I'm getting paid back in spades! I've always been a huge bookworm, and when I was growing up, I would stay up half the night reading books--by hall light or flashlight if I must. Many times I'd get caught and my frustrated parents would urge me once again to go to sleep! Well, guess what? My son wants to stay up half the night too. He reads books, writes stories on his computer, plays gameboy, you name it--anything to stay up half the night! And I get up at 4:30am. I saw the clock last at 12:30am. But it's almost Friday . . . : )

We had a really good class last night! We had a full house and Terri brought warm cookies! They were chocolate with walnuts and chocolate chips and SO good! LOL--and our class sure did seem to have lots of spark. Poor Donna kept having to reel us back in and steer us back on course. We had the giggles.

We are doing the book Being a Mary in a Martha World. Momma & I can see my grandmother in the Martha role. Of course most of the women her age are like that. I am more of a Mary. I would much rather sit and visit than get up and prepare a meal (is that bad hospitality? Well? This is my blog, and I'm being honest--LOL) My grandmother is always horrified at this, and she is concerned that I am starving my husband to death. She'll always tell me, "You know there's sandwich makings in there--don't you think John might be hungry?" I think she despairs that she didn't teach me to be a good hostess. But we discussed just being still and knowing He is God. I'm still working on that. Presently, if I am still, I am asleep!

My primary goal for today is to stay awake until my kids are in bed tonight. I guess I need to aim higher. Okay, I'm gonna try to keep a positive attitude today and treat people with love. That's difficult for me, because I seem to have developed a sense of impatience with people that do things that I deem "stupid". But that's my goal for today. What's yours?

Wednesday

Yay! Halfway through! I love my job, but I am looking forward to a weekend with my husband and kids. Training is going well. My new trainee is picking up on things, he has a positive attitude and he doesn't show much interest in PD Politics--YAY!

Okay, now I have heard it all. Has anyone heard about the contest at Six Flags in Illinois that is offering unlimited line-jumping priveleges to anyone who will eat cockroaches? And these are not your average cockroaches--but those Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches (about 2-3 inches long)! And if that just don't beat all, here comes PETA saying that cockroaches have feelings too. Uh, huh. Wonder if they let cockroaches have free run of their homes, too. Things that make you go hmmmm . . .

http://www.syatp.com/home/
It's See You At The Pole Day! My oldest two are going to that this morning. Madeline's all excited. I'm really glad that they do this, but at the same time, I'm saddened that they have to meet outside in a special meeting--and that the meeting is not sponsored by the school. But don't get me started. My soap box about how Christians are not standing up for their rights is WAY tall . . . and I might fall off. But it is something that REALLY bothers me. I just have to take comfort in the fact that most of the teachers at my kids' schools are Christians and trust that my kids are really in God's very capable hands, and that I really really prayed hard for my kids' teachers.

It's gonna be a great day! (right after this cup of coffe!) Have yourself a really nice one! : )

Tuesday

LOL--well, if you get our local paper, the PD is on the front page again. There were shots fired at one of my officers. I ended up staying at work until almost 10pm. Then back here again at 6am this morning. But you know what? I wouldn't trade my job for anything! ; )

I have something to look forward to. My brother took the weekend off October 6th so that my whole family could get together for a cookout/campout for my birthday. I think it will be fun. Of course I am not camping out. I'll stay out late with the campfire, then I will be traipsing down the hill back to my Momma's house where a bed awaits. I'm not much on sleeping on the ground. It's a very good thing that Momma has 28 acres and no close neighbors. My family is a very noisy family full of loud and boisterous laughter. My Momma asked me what I wanted her to fix for my birthday dinner, or did I want to cook out. And goofy me, all I could think of to say was "SMORES!" Help me--I am a hopeless chocolate addict!

So You Had a Bad Day . . .

:::Rant warning:::

Okaaaaay . . . who is tired of this song??? :::jumping up and down, waving my arms madly::: I AM! I AM!!

You've got to understand, the first 5,000 times I heard it were from my 7 y/o daughter who didn't quite have the lyrics right. She sang--
"So you had a bad day
Your feelings are hurt
You sing a sad song
Just to turn it around . . ."
then you start back with "So you had a bad day" and continue on in a neverending loop!!! It's like that song--
"This is the song that never ends
Yes it goes on and on my friend
Some people started singing it
not knowing what it was
and they'll continue singing it
forever just because
This is the song that never ends . . ."
Ugh.
It got so bad, I heard my husband making up his own lyrics under his breath. They went something like . . .
"So you had a bad day
Your feelings are hurt
So poke him in the eye
and call him a jerk!"
::giggle::
Then, I went to the city for a class with the Chief and guess what song the radio played several times on the way to/from the class? You guessed it. Well, at least this wasn't Madeline's version of it. The real version really makes absolutely no sense to me. :::sigh::: Oh well. I'M not having a bad day. Hope you're having a marvelous day!
SMILE!!! : )

Your Stress Level is: 64%

You are prone to stress, and you're probably even pretty stressed right now.
Life's problems seem to pile up on you, and this often makes you feel depressed and burned out.
Learn to take time to relax and enjoy life, even if things are stressful. It's the only wa you'll get through the bad times.
How Stressed Are You?

Giggle for the day (thanks, Daze)

A doctor goes out and buys the best car on the market, a brand new Ferrari GTO It is also the most expensive car in the world, and it costs him $500,000.
He takes it out for a spin and stops at a red light. An old man on a Moped, looking about 100 years old, pulls up next to him. The old man looks over at the sleek shiny car and asks, "What kind of car ya got there, sonny?"

The doctor replies, "A Ferrari GTO. It cost half a million dollars!"

"That's a lot of money," says the old man. "Why does it cost so much?"

"Because this car can do up to 320 miles an hour!" states the doctor proudly.

The Moped driver asks, "Mind if I take a look inside?"

"No problem," replies the doctor.

So the old man pokes his head in the window and looks around. Then, sitting back on his Moped, the old man says, "That's a pretty nice car, all right, but I'll stick with my Moped!"

Just then the light changes, so the doctor decides to show the old man just what his car can do. He floors it, and within 30 seconds, the speedometer reads 160 mph. Suddenly, he notices a dot in his rear view mirror. It seems to be getting closer! He slows down to see what it could be and suddenly WHHHOOOOOOSSSSSHHH!

Something whips by him going much faster! "What on earth could be going faster than my Ferrari?" the doctor asks himself.

He floors the accelerator and takes the Ferrari up to 250 mph. Then, up ahead of him, he sees that it's the old man on the Moped! Amazed that the Moped could pass his Ferrari, he gives it more gas and passes the moped at 2 75 mph.

WHOOOOOOOSHHHHH! He's feeling pretty good until he looks in his mirror and sees the old man gaining on him AGAIN!

Astounded by the speed of his old guy, he floors the gas pedal and takes the Ferrari all the way up to 320 mph.

Not ten seconds later, he sees the Moped bearing down on him again! The Ferrari is flat out, and there's nothing he can do!

Suddenly, the Moped plows into the back of his Ferrari, demolishing the rear end. The doctor stops and jumps out and unbelievably the old man is still alive. He runs up to the mangled old man and says, "Oh My Gosh! Is there anything I can do for you?"

The old man whispers, "Unhook ... my . suspenders .. from . your .. side view ... mirror."

Friday

Well, today has had a bit of a rockier start, but it's gonna get better!

I'm working through a dilemma. Someone I know did something that could have been really dangerous yesterday, and it was unethical as well. I really struggle with this sort of thing, because I have a very strong sense of what I feel is right and wrong--sometimes I tend to think in blacks/whites. I don't do well with gray (LOL). But of course, the golden rule applies as always, and I would want someone to extend me a little grace should I mess up. So, one side of me is leaning toward reporting this. And of course I can give all sorts of arguments for this (i.e. it's the right thing to do, this person might injure theirself or someone else the next time, etc.) But the other side of me is really questioning myself. This person is definitely not one of my favorite people--and one I have a hard time praying for. So this side is telling me that I'm just being vindictive, hoping this person gets into trouble, and that since no one was hurt this time, I should just let them have the rope to string their own self up. And they will. Pray for me as I struggle to find God's path for me in this.

But on the bright side today, it's payday! And the parade is tomorrow! One of my girls gave me a red ribbon for Madeline to use during the parade. I warned my friend that it might come back with more glitter on it than when she gave it to me. (LOL) I can't wait to dress Madeline up and fix her hair and do the makeup/glitter thing. This is one of my favorite parts of my Momma role in my daughter's life. So fun! And Daniel's getting excited about marching with the band. LOL--he was pretty wiped out after practice yesterday, and was moaning about sore muscles. I laughed and reminded Daniel that the real sore person would be the drum major the day after the parade, after walking backwards waving those arms for a couple of hours.

It's gonna be a great day! Hope you have the best day ever! : )

Almost Friday

Today is a good day. It was nice and cool this morning (the bank sign said it was 58 degrees F this morning at 5:30am. I do love Fall! : )

Tomorrow is payday. : )

Saturday is the parade--and a day with family day. : )

How could it get much better?

Oh yes--and it's almost my birth month and Halloween (my favorite holiday)!

My trainee is doing fairly well today. I have had to help her very little.

I've got to find a red ribbon for Madeline's hair. Her baton group outfit is red/white (pretty colors on my Maddiepoppet). They had originally wanted red socks, but they changed it to white. I'm glad. We didn't have any red socks. White socks are good.

Hope your day is going as splendidly as mine is. : )

Wednesday

Hello Bloggerville. : ) Hope your day is going well. : )

Kind of slow today, which stands out in stark contrast from yesterday with all the traffic accidents. And it wasn't just us yesterday. It was the county and the city where I live. I was a bit nervous driving home. You can be as careful a driver as possible, but you have no control over how others drive. Kind of scary. But I just have to take it into the Throne Room and leave it there--and make sure I don't have strings attached where I can yank it back out after awhile--LOL.

Today, (and really this week) my goal and prayer has been to keep my mouth shut. But I must not be concentrating enough on it. I'm failing miserably. But I'm still trying . . . and I'm still smiling, anyway.

Can't wait for Wednesday night Ladies Class tonight. I always find something that I can take with me from those classes (LOL--no pressure meant, Donna, just praising God for you).

I'm looking forward to tomorrow night, too. It's the first night this week that I've had nothing planned after work. Maybe I can get to bed before 10pm! : )

And of course, I'm excited about the parade Saturday! My whole family is coming out! Yay! What fun we'll have! If you've never met my family, they are some of the laughingest bunch you'll ever meet. We do love to get together and talk and laugh. I just know Heaven's gonna be full of laughter. : ) (and I'm excited about that too!)

Isn't it cool to have things to look forward to? Anyone else have fun things coming up?

Tuesday

Hello Bloggerville! Hope you're having a good day. Kind of rainy here, but I've been told we need the rain. I do know it tends to cause more accidents. : (

Kind of busy day today. Daniel has band practice, and Madeline has baton practice. Everybody's getting ready for the parade.

Has anybody found any jewels today? I have. I had a small dilemma that I was trying to work through at work, and God saw fit to remove that dilemma from my life. Isn't God good?

We're one day closer to October . . .
: )

Have a super great day! : )

Monday!

Hello Bloggerville! Hope you all are having a good day! : )

We had a productive weekend, but not a particularly exciting one. Daniel & I got the yard work done (not quite as lush of a lawn as it was a few months ago), while John steam cleaned the living room carpet. I guess we will try to get the middle room carpet done another weekend. We just ran out of time. This coming weekend is the Fair Parade, so I know we probably won't get it done then.

If you didn't read the responses to my prayer request on behalf of my Momma, thanks so much for the prayers. She came through surgery well, and is already doing SO much better.

Book to read! If you haven't read Karen Kingsbury's book "Oceans Apart", run out and go get it. It's really good!

It's a great day here--I hope you're having a really good one too! : )

TGFF! : )

I do love Fridays. : ) It's payday, and tomorrow is my sleep in (LOL--sleeping in for me is about 6:30am) and play with my kids day. : )

Prayer Warriors, please continue to pray for my Momma. She goes into surgery today at 11:15am in B'ham. Also pray as I bring something I am concerned about before the elders.

Today, my goal is to smile and have a pleasant thing to say to everyone. What is your goal?

Thursday

Good Morning, Bloggerville!
Just another day in Paradise. : ) Hope you all are having the best day ever! I'm gonna have a great day! : )

Prayer request:
My Momma needs prayers. She's having really bad back trouble. She had just gotten a job as a receptionist, and she hadn't had it long when her back started going out. She'd had trouble with it before and had surgery. She was doing better, but now, it's worse than ever. She's flat on her back. The doctor prescribed her shots and pills, but she said it was like taking water for all the good it did. She went to Birmingham to a doctor yesterday, and he prescribed OxyContin for her, and she's supposed to have an MRI today and discuss options. So, keep her in your prayers. She needs them.

Okay, I'm not going to rant and rave, but just remember yesterday's post about work ethics. I'm pulling my hair out again. But it's gonna be a good day anyway! ; )

Smile everybody!

Wednesday

Good morning!

Well, the PD made the paper again.

I'm going to have a good day (although pray for me, I'm working with one I struggle with), but I do have one pet peeve this morning: Whatever has happened to good work ethic? Do you know I have not called in sick to work but 2 times in the last two years. I have actually come in sick many times. That's not meant to praise me, but my Momma who raised me to be responsible. What did these other people's mommas teach them? Okay, I know. I'm not being very nice. I'll stop now. It just never fails to amaze me.

I'm a little excited and proud today. My daughter is going to get to march and twirl in the Fair Parade this year. Yay! Last year, she rode in the wagon, smiled at everyone (and adorable she was, let me assure you!) and threw candy, but this year, she's gonna get to march and twirl. I am so thrilled I could just bust! And of course, Daniel will be marching with the middle school band, and I'm so very proud of that too. French Horn! My favorite! So let me invite all of y'all who might be close by, to come and watch my kids (and other people's adorables too.) ; ) at the Fair Parade. A fun time will be had by all! : )

Guess I'd better run. Things are picking up! : ) I do love my job!

Tuesday

Hello Bloggerland! Hope you are having a good Tuesday.

Not much going on here. I'm still training . . . Tonight, Madeline has baton twirling, and I have GOT to get her old clothes priced. There is a huge community kids consignment sale here that happens twice a year (Spring and Fall). So, twice a year, I have the kids try on all of last season's clothes and clean out their closets. Then I have to wash, iron and hang said clothes and price them all. I've gotten the boys' clothes done, I just haven't done Madeline's yet. Then poor John will have to take them in for me during his sleep time, because I have to work tomorrow. And they have to be turned in tomorrow. I hope I sell lots! : ) It's also a good thing, because the kids' closets get cleaned out well that way.

And oh! Let's not think about the laundry that needs doing . . .

BTW! Congratulate me! I'm gonna be an aunt again! My beautiful sister in love is going to have a little sister or brother for my favorite nephew Tyler! Yay! I'd love to post a pretty picture, but for whatever reason, the creative buttons are always gone on this computer when I try to use codes and such. Any ideas why?

Well, I guess I'd better go for now. I get to leave an hour early today by mistake. : )

Happy Labor Day, everybuddy! : )

Good morning! Hope all are having a good one. What're all of y'all doing for Labor Day today? LOL--I'm actually working, which is kind of appropriate. My DH and babies are home blissfully sleeping in.

We had a nice day Saturday. It was DH's company picnic, and they had fried catfish, shrimp, chicken fingers, and all the trimmings. They also had snowcones, cotton candy, popsicles, ice cream, etc. And there was a blowup waterslide moonwalk, mountain climber, and obstacle course. Naturally, my kids didn't want to go home! Daniel went up and down that waterslide over and over and over, stopping only to grab a plate of fried shrimp and cole slaw. Madeline (ever the prissy one) didn't want to go down the water slide and be messy, so she jumped in the moonwalk all day and climbed the mountain climber all the way to the top twice! Malachi jumped in the moonwalk too, making his momma nervous, because he was so tiny in comparison to the other kids in there. But you know, he's convinced he's as big as they are! When we got home, the kids slept GOOD! LOL.

Yesterday, was not so good. Madeline and I came down with the stomach virus. John took the boys to church while Madeline and I stayed home, only venturing out briefly for some Sprite. But by about 8pm last night, Madeline was getting her spark back, and I was some better. I'm about 75% today. Feeling pretty good, but I turned down the offer for some breakfast from Hardees. : p I might have a sandwich for lunch. Maybe.

Wishing you all a relaxing Labor Day! It's quiet here (shhhhh--don't tell anyone!), and I'm rather enjoying it. : )

Books . . .

1. One book that changed my life... I reckon that would be the Bible. If it was a book in the Bible, it would be Philippians.

2. One book I have read more than once... Any Harry Potter book

3. One book I would want on a desert island... Any Harry Potter book.

4. One book that made me laugh... Any Robin Jones Gunn book.

5. One book that made me cry... Any Karen Kingsbury book.

6. One book I wish had been written... The one that God wants me to write

7. One book I wish had never been written... Memnoch the Devil by Anne Rice

8. One book I am currently reading... About to finish Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince for the umpteenth time. (Then, I promise, Momma, I'm gonna start those books you gave me!)

9. One book I've been meaning to read... Any one of the books my Momma gave me to read and/or the biographies I've had for months, waiting to be read. ; )

Tagging JanJanMom? Go, girl!

TGIF! : )

Hello Bloggerville! Hope you are all doing well. I'm busy as always--currently working 60 hours a week this month. I'm training 2 dispatchers this month. But the benefit of this is, I'm off on Saturdays and Sundays this month. That's huge for me! I haven't had a sleep-in day for quite some time. If you have a job where you are always off on the weekends, it's a blessing! : ) We have a company picnic tomorrow, so that will be fun! : )

We had prayer vigil night on Wednesday--where everybody turns in prayer requests on cards and then everybody trades up and prays over those requests. I really enjoy those once in awhile. There are some prayer requests that come up in those that you really didn't know those people were struggling with. Maybe they didn't feel it important enough to put forth in the regular weekly bulletin prayer requests, but for prayer vigil, those things come out. A few things were things to rejoice over (one of our families asked for prayers as their son went to work for the police department--naturally I was so excited about that! : ) ), but a lot of them were things that were not so happy. But it's good to know these things and who is struggling with them, so I can continue to pray over them, and sometimes God even lets me see His hand at work answering those prayers.

Malachi is going through a clingy phase. Mostly, I don't mind this phase, but I'm hoping for improvement on Wednesday nights as our ladies prayer group begins to meet again for the fall.

Madeline is in twirling lessons again. She's SO excited! I think she loves dancing and twirling better than just about anything. She also has reading homework every night--where she has to read for 20 minutes every night, and I sign off that she read. Not a problem. She LOVES to read! Of course as her brother, Daddy and I all love to read, I would have been more surprised if she had NOT liked reading. But we are reading the Chronicles of Narnia. We're mostly through "The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe" (I know correct punctuation would be italics instead of quotation marks, but for some reason, the fun buttons are not available on this computer.). Madeline has seen the movies for the first 4 books, but there are none available right now for the last 3 books. So, I can't wait for us to get to those. : )

Daniel's school has issued them laptops for school. So, no more carrying around umpteen million books every day. HURRAY! This is really a good thing, because we always made Daniel bring home EVERY textbook he had every day. With his ADHD, inevitably, he would forget to bring home the one book he needed for homework. So he had to bring all of them home. With the laptop, he doesn't have to do that, and we are all SO glad! Why didn't they do this sooner? I know when I was in high school, it wasn't cool to carry a bag or a backpack. So, we carried our books around in our arms. Stupid, I know, but be honest: how many of you have done stupid things because everyone else was??? Daniel is also in the band again this year--French Horn. We're looking forward to the Fair Parade where he and Madeline will both be marching. I do love Fair Parade!

Speaking of the County Fair, I wonder if my dad will enter anything in the County Fair. He was King of the Kitchen 2 years running.

Well, it IS first of the month, so I guess I'd better get to work on all that end of month paperwork. I hope you all have a WONDERFUL day, and I wish you many blessings! : )

SMILE!!!
